Boosting Your Immunity
It’s the worst thing as a mom to not be able to help your kids when they’re sick.
I remember as a young mom crying while holding my sick babies and feeling utterly helpless. Wanting to help them but not knowing how beside giving them children’s Ibuprofen.
Now, five kids later and years of learning, I have a tool belt of things I use readily when needed.
Bulk Herbs.
Herbs have been so wonderful. I began using them a year ago and wonder how I ever managed without them!
Some easy use herbs:
Red raspberry leaf
Mullein
Lobelia
Chamomile
Comfrey
Pau d Arco
These I find from a reputable source and strive to find organic. I appreciate having them in bulk loose leaf/bark so I can add as little or as much as needed in each circumstance.
Essential oils.
Essential oils have been around for ages. There are so many wonderful blends! You can also make them yourself…(totally going to hold a class on making your own oils! One of our customers is an apothecary!)
Go to oils-
OnGaurd (DoTerra), Theives (Young Living), Deliverance (Butterfly Express) -
These listed above are the most potent antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal combinations available.
Aspire & Breezy (Butterfly)
Great for congestion! Specifically opens bronchial and sinus passages very effectively.
Tea Tree
Peppermint
Lavender
Clary Sage
Spearmint
There are soooo many I love, these are just my top ones!
Garlic in Raw Honey.
So I’ll level with ya. I just started doing this this year! And in the year I have seen astounding results.
Our kiddos got a yucky cold/cough…and yet it was minimized almost immediately when we took the garlic in honey.
Garlic has innumerable benefits as does raw honey, just google garlic in honey benefits! So awesome!!
Raw and whole foods.
Real foods give to the body. Fake or processed foods deplete and start fires all over the body.
My absolutes -
Raw dairy products
raw milk
raw homemade butter (cultured is delish)
homemade ghee
homemade kefir
homemade sour cream
homemade yogurt
raw aged cheese
Veggies (add variations! fennel and leeks are awesome in soups!)
Fruits
these I use sparingly in winter. the best time to have fruit is fresh and in season.
Fermented whole grains
homemade sourdough breads
overnight soaked oats (I soak mine in raw milk on the counter…add flax and chia seeds -so good!)
sourdough cakes, cookies, muffins, pie crust…
Quality Protein
Homemade bone broth
Grass fed and finished beef & poultry
If you like pork…please get it from a trusted source, you are what you eat! And pigs eat some nasty stuff if allowed.
Pasture raised chicken eggs
Fish…if your close to fresh water areas or fishing in clean water (sorry Utah…not very easy) lol
Nuts and Legumes
Soak ‘em! It’s so much better for you!!
Body Work
To boost immunity we must understand that our nervous system is directly connected with all other systems of the body.
When we are stressed it lowers the body’s response to harmful invaders.
Simple and lost arts like those listed below, help restore, rejuvenate and reset.
Breath work
Massage Therapy
Foot Zone/Acupressure Therapy
Exercise
Epsom Salt bath soak
Light Therapy
Sauna Therapy
Cryotherapy
Prolonged Fasting
Prayer
Gratitude
Mindfulness
“Each day you must choose the pain of discipline, or the pain of regret.”
This quote was one my lifting coach shared at the gym and it applies to all areas of life. When it comes to building a strong immune system, it takes effort and discipline.
Discipline to choose not to reach for inflammatory causing foods.
Discipline to learn a new skill of herbology.
Discipline to take time to listen to what the body says its needing.
It is worth the time. It is worth the effort. You are of great worth.
