Routine and Rejuvenation

The days of summer are coming to a close.

As a child, I remember the dread of school and the excitement.

I loved all the changes of seasons! I still have that childlike love.

Summers’ warmth will be missed…but the chaos will not. Lol

There is a universal energy about Summer in my opinion.

The majority of humanity is off on their schedules. Routine - gone.

Bed time? What’s that when the sun is up till 9:30?!

Ugh…such a struggle for a dairy homestead family!

Have you ever tried to get to sleep at 8pm in the Summer? Yeah…it’s a joke. lol

For me, the comfort of crisp Fall air brings in more than just pumpkin-spiced goodies.

It’s a reminder of rhythm.

It’s rest & rejuvenation.

Oh doesn’t that just give you a sigh of relief? No?! Fine, if you don’t love Fall we can’t be friends. Jk! Jk! (but seriously) hehehe

The sweater-weather is also great for our home in creating better food choices!

Routine brings the reminder of self care.

Making sure I’ve got my pantry and fridge stocked for those meals I need to boost my immune system.

I believe having a set time to grocery shop [or stop out at the farm store] is crucial to success.

When I take time to have nourishing in my home, I set myself up to thrive!

Of course I’ll give you an example of how I wasn’t prepared today haha

So my routine is to go grab my fresh produce at least once weekly.

Some weeks I sneak in a quick run if I used up all my fresh bell peppers and need more.

Welp. Today I go to the fridge…nuthin. Look in the freezer…Brussel sprouts. Seriously?

I love my fresh sautéed veggies blend. (3 different color bell peppers + onion + mushroom =heaven)

I get slightly ornery when I don’t get the foods that I crave.

My body literally craves whole foods now. It’s taken time to get to this point! But absolutely worth it.

I don’t keep processed foods in my home because I was addicted to sugar and all the things.

Besides addiction - lets be honest, I’m also prone to being lazy.

I have had to coach myself into cooking real foods. I do not have a deep love for cooking.

If I had quick foods in the pantry…I definitely would NOT be cooking meals that require effort. lol

Now you know my secret. (which I bet is the same secret most of us share!)

Oh you wanna know what I ended up eating??

I blended up almonds, added MCT oil, raw oats, frozen blueberries and fresh cream on top. It was pretty okay tasting for improvising. haha! My first idea was to eat straight up honey so I’d say I did pretty good!!!!

When you have routine, it gives the brain less control to complain.

I promise that isn’t just you. Every human has an annoying complainer in the brain.

It’s the lazy part that wants us to conserve energy…cuz you know you might need it when that lion starts chasing you.

Our limbic brain (survival brain) is awesome, but it can’t quite grasp that there aren’t really lions in our day.

So it keeps finding ways to keep us sedentary.

To combat that, you literally have to call it out.

“I know grocery shopping isn’t always the funnest, but I will love feeling higher frequency foods in my body.”

Schedule a day to get those necessary nutrients.

Don’t leave it to chance when you will grab your raw milk, or your fresh produce.

I know when I leave it to chance, that is when my inflammation flares up.

I grab what’s quick and easy.

When I have the pantry and fridge filled weekly, my success in my health improves.

Like what sucess?

  • better sleep

  • better mood

  • bloating decreases or completely gone

  • skin is clear

  • no headaches

  • increased energy

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times.

Food is the foundation to your body.

Make those choices to sacrifice whatever it takes to build your body with real foods.

It’s such a relief to feel whole.

And coming from a woman who has worked through the flare-ups of autoimmune dis-ease…I promise improving lifestyle choices can bring wholeness.

You got this my friend.

Enjoy getting back into [or continuing] routines!!

xoxo-
