Enhance The Quality Of Your Life With Raw Cream From Harmony Homestead
We live in such a different world than our great-granny did. She more than likely had a cow or had a friend who had a milk cow. She made her own bread, butter, and cheese with her mother. Life was a lot of work, but it was so rewarding. It was fulfilling because she knew what her role was.
When I think about my ancestors, it gives me strength to change. I DO NOT want their life. I quite like my washing machine, thank you. What I do want is how they had very definite roles. My husband and I have worked hard to define what each of our responsibilities are and how best to support one another.
It’s funny how the simple task of making butter with our raw cream fills a role for me. I love being a homemaker. Not the picture-perfect kind that is blasted across social media—no, not like that. I am a “B-” kind of homemaker! And I say a grade to give myself grace... I am totally happy with where I’m at. I used to think I had to do everything 100% (A++), and THAT is not healthy. So, when I’m feeling all my shortcomings, I remind myself that I’m doing better than I think I am. It doesn’t have to be A+ work. With food, I have other options that may be lesser but still good in reserve for when I fall short of stocking the freezer with butter. Progress, not perfection.
The Benefits of Raw Cream
There are so many reasons to use fresh raw cream. As stated… it’s fresh. I think it’s hard in our society today to comprehend the benefits of eating fresh foods because we’ve been indoctrinated into believing that preservatives are “natural” and necessary. That is far from the truth. When possible, incorporate as much fresh, whole foods into daily living.
Raw cream gives so many vitamins, minerals, live enzymes, and bioavailable fats. Each of these nutrients is crucial in rebuilding the body. Yes, even the fat is crucial. I forget how much the anti-fat culture is still being pushed. I promise you, your brain will thank you for adding REAL bioavailable fats into your daily food choices.
I’m sharing about butter mostly because it’s such a simple lifestyle switch. I sauté fresh and frozen veggies 2-3 times a day. I am very generous with my butter when I sauté because I know my gut needs the fats, and my children’s brains need plenty too. Fats also aid in the absorption of those harder-to-break-down veggies!
Creative Ways to Incorporate Raw Cream Into Your Daily Life
Here are more fabulous ways to use fresh raw cream: make your own sour cream or homemade ice cream with maple syrup or honey. You can even blend fruit as the sweetener! No more wood shavings! (Yes, I went there, and yes, they use wood shavings as a thickener in most commercial ice creams.)
You know those cans of cream of chicken? That was a staple growing up in my home. Now I make a roux sauce as my base instead. It’s so easy! And your creamy dish is a million times better in every way.
The list continues with your imagination. Ranging from sweet to savory, you can give your home the foundation in nutrition it needs. Don’t listen to the promoters of the Standard American Diet. Your body and your budget will thank you. By learning these skills of cooking nutrient-dense foods, you save so much money. If you don’t believe me, add up a standard shopping cart with processed foods inside it. It will astound you how much is being spent on... well... nothing. Processed foods aren’t even food. They are chemical compounds created in a food lab, testing what they can add (i.e., wood shavings) to increase their profit margins.
Nothing will change until we make changes in our homes. We are the change, and I’m here to validate you! You’re an amazing individual. Your efforts do make a difference! Keep up the great work.
