The Incredible Benefits of Raw Milk That’ll Change Your Life for the Better

Lately, I’ve been reminiscing a lot… and I’m feeling especially grateful and blessed. I wanted to share what brought this on. Alright, here’s a quick throwback before Harmony Homestead became my passion and life’s work. I was crazy exhausted and scary low on energy. Probably because my favorite breakfast food was cereal (and not the healthy stuff, I’m talking about fruity pebbles, cinnamon toast crunch… alllll the sugar). I might have been enjoying that way of eating at that time, but I was also struggling with anxiety, depression, and a weak immune system. Man, I was sick all the time! My poor body was so inflamed and I knew it all related back to what I was putting at the end of my fork.

One day I woke up and decided I couldn’t live like this any longer, and that’s when I grabbed my life by the horns and started the journey of healing. That healing started with nourishing myself and my family with real, whole foods.

I’ve come such a long way and I’m so grateful to be using all that I’ve learned to help others as well. #NoRegrets manifesting a homestead with my hubby Alma, when we were barely dating! I’m overwhelmed with what we’ve created this far.

Since I started my health journey, I've become extremely passionate about making our food from scratch. And because of our sweet Jersey cows, we can make fresh kefir, yogurt, cheese, and butter! Oh, the benefits! There’s a wide array, and I can’t wait to share all of them with you! You probably already know that raw milk is loaded with natural nutrients, but the rest of these benefits might surprise you. Liquid gold I tell ya! Let’s dive in.

Full of Healthy Enzymes

In earlier days, pretty much everyone ate a raw and whole foods diet. Because of this, they were able to get all the enzymes their bodies needed. Today, almost all of our food is heavily processed. So it’s way harder. It leaves you depleted and without live enzymes. Yes, enzymes are alive! They speed up your metabolism, nourish your gut, and keep you balanced.

Don’t let store-bought milk fool you. Store-bought milk is typically pasteurized. And since it’s pasteurized, it’s basically heated to a certain temp that kills everything. So synthetic vitamins and minerals are added. And your body doesn’t know how to respond to those phony products. That’s why raw milk is so beneficial. Nature’s got your back. Our cows got your back! And guess what? They’re happy cows! And happy cows deliver the most high-quality raw milk out there. These natural vitamins and minerals are essential for your body to function properly.

Healthy fats and omegas are crucial for your overall health. The world often preaches and raves about things that are simply not true. Fat-free is one of those myths. For example, at one point the world said fat-free products are the better option. Better for your heart. That was a get-duped scam and still is. Your body needs to be strengthened and fed nutritious foods (including fats) to prosper. Aka — raw milk — because it’s a superfood!

These benefits are likely related to the active immune factors, biodiversity, prebiotics, intact protective proteins, and other elements found in raw milk. Not only does raw milk provide you with all these nutrients but it also acts as a probiotic. Especially when you ferment your raw milk and turn it into kefir and yogurt. Your body needs good bacteria to keep your gut in line — and raw milk is truly the secret ingredient!

Did you know that our cows are grass-fed? A lot of dairy farmers feed their cows grain but we decided to ditch the grain and stick with grass. Why? Well, that’s another blog for another day. But a long explanation made short… grains are full of GMOs and chemicals. Everything the cow eats, you’ll get traces of in their milk. Grass is natural, and gives the cows all the nutrition they need to produce healthy milk. Grass-fed cow's raw milk actually has more beneficial antioxidants such as beta-carotene and vitamin E, which play a huge part in building your immune system. It releases oxidative stress and it can help reduce inflammation. Those are just a few examples. The list goes on and on! 

In one of the greatest historical books on this earth — the Bible — milk is mentioned quite a few times. In fact, in Exodus, it talks about “a land flowing with milk and honey.” Back then, pasteurized milk was not a thing. Notta! So I imagine this scripture referring to a land flowing with raw milk (don’t you?) It’s safe to say that milk is straight from heaven and a gift that’s ready to help strengthen and nourish your body. 

And here’s a cherry on top —  raw milk is also amazing for your skin! All that TLC you’re giving yourself on the inside (by drinking raw milk) is bound to show on the outside as well. Raw milk promotes collagen production. And it can also help keep you moisturized topically as well!
